About Rodney Lloyd
Rodney Lloyd became a member of the Board of Trustees at Austin Graduate School of Theology in 1995 and moved to the Senior Board of Trustees in 2018. He has previously served as chairman of the Board and as chairman of the Governance Committee.
He spent his career in the chemical industry, having worked 28 years for Texaco Chemical Company and another seven years with Goldschmidt Chemical Company.
After retiring and moving from Houston to Boerne, he had the opportunity to develop the chemistry curriculum and teach the newly-added 10th grade at the Geneva School of Boerne, a classical, Christian school. After 11 years at Geneva, at the end of the 2018-2019 school year, he retired after joyfully teaching both Pre-AP and AP Chemistry to high school students.
He received a B.S. in chemistry from Abilene Christian University and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Texas in Austin. He then began his career in the chemical industry in research, product development, marketing and sales. His chemical career and his unpaid youth minister experiences prepared him for his “bonus” career in teaching at the Geneva School.
Rodney was raised in a Christian home and grew up in the Winters Church of Christ, in Winters, Texas – where he was born. He has taught adult and high school age classes at church and has served as an elder in two congregations. He and his wife Lawanna live in Frisco, TX, closer to their two grown, married daughters, three grandsons and one granddaughter, all living in the Dallas area.
