Vice President of Development

Job Description
Reports to: Dr. Stan Reid, President

Position Summary: Austin Graduate School of Theology is seeking an experienced, proven fundraiser with a passion for Christian higher education and an energetic, positive outlook. AGST is located in Austin – a dynamic city in the heart of Texas. The school is implementing an exciting, bold strategic plan that calls for a more refined advancement program. Therefore, the leader selected for this role must be able to hit the ground running with donor relations while developing/implementing a comprehensive plan for overall fundraising success. Austin Grad, an independent seminary accredited by the Southern Association of College and Schools, offers theological education at the undergraduate and graduate level, and the expansion of current online programs is currently under consideration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and execute a practical, measurable advancement plan for increasing donations, including identification of new leadership-level donors and resources beyond individuals.
  • Research, cultivate and introduce new potential donors to AGST.
  • Prepare the president (prospect research, relationship info, etc.) for major donor meetings/asks.
  • Create and execute an annual giving program to solicit ongoing support and increase giving from loyal donors.
  • Manage donor-related events – both fundraising and stewardship.
  • Effectively steward existing donors, in partnership with the president, including a systematic thank-you process.
  • Manage donor communication – for fundraising, gratefulness and stewardship.
  • Coordinate grant management, foundation relationships and grant writing (in collaboration with writing/consulting firm, as needed).
  • Consistently and accurately track prospect/donor contacts and stages (identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, steward, renew). Actively and effectively utilize a fundraising database (learn if necessary); currently use Exceed.
  • Ensure all donations and donor relations are handled with the highest ethnical standards, following established guidelines (such as Association of Fundraising Professionals).

  • Proven success in both major gift and annual gift fundraising; knowledge of planned giving a plus

Director of Recruiting and Enrollment Marketing

Job Description
Reports to: Dr. Stan Reid, President

Position Summary: Austin Graduate School of Theology is seeking a vibrant, energetic, positive Christian leader with a mature outlook to serve as the Director of Recruiting and Enrollment Marketing. AGST is located in Austin – a dynamic city in the heart of Texas. This critical position recruits both graduate and undergraduate students, plans and executes the enrollment marketing efforts, and tracks all relevant recruiting and admissions data. Austin Grad is implementing an exciting, bold new strategic plan, and the individual in this role will have the opportunity to develop and implement a more refined recruiting and recruiting marketing operation. Austin Grad, an independent seminary accredited by the Southern Association of College and Schools, offers theological education at the undergraduate and graduate level, and the expansion of online programs is currently under consideration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and execute a structured, measurable enrollment management/recruiting marketing plan to increase student enrollment, particularly in degree-seeking programs.
  • Personally identify, cultivate and recruit graduate and undergraduate students, guiding them through every step of the process until they are enrolled in classes.
  • Manage the recruiting marketing process, and follow up with contacts rapidly and effectively.
  • Build an effective recruiting marketing system and infrastructure (technology/database, communication templates, planning schedule, outreach schedule, etc.)
  • Develop strong relationships with churches and church leaders in the Austin area, with a focus on student recruiting.
  • Effectively involve faculty/administration in outreach to prospective students (for example, through seminars, blogs, publications, campus tours, etc.) and consult with them as needed in the ongoing evaluation of recruitment activities.
  • Consistently and accurately track student contacts through recruiting stages (prospect, inquiry, applicant, matriculant, retention).
  • Leverage technology/marketing tools to build name recognition and attract new students (e.g., Hub Spot, blog, paid online ads, social media, eblasts, website, etc.)

  • Experience in school/college/university recruiting or enrollment management with a proven track record of success (experience in graduate recruiting, recruiting of non-traditional students and/or recruiting for a theology program/school preferred)

  • Experience using student tracking systems and recording/analyzing recruiting-process data
  • Familiar with/experience utilizing effective marketing strategies/tools/lists for recruiting students
  • Technology/social media savvy
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Gifted in persuading students to enroll and in seeking out potential new students
  • Self-starter and collaborative team player
  • Demonstrated ability to research best practices and to implement new ideas
