Fred Strietelmeier served as chairman of the Board of Trustees of Austin Graduate School of Theology (Austin Grad) from 2010-2015. He has been involved with the school since it was first a Bible Chair offering Bible courses in the early 1970’s, through its initial accreditation in 1987, and then as a Board member.
Fred spent his entire 34 year career in the technology industry working for International Business Machines Corporation in Austin as an electrical engineer and in management. He worked on new product development in office products, workstations and personal computers, and high-end server systems. He completed his career in the patent and technology licensing area. In retirement, Fred has remained active through serving on the Brentwood Christian School Board of Trustees as well as the Austin Grad Board, and being involved with the work of his church.
Fred is a native of Indianapolis, IN where he graduated from high school. He attended Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, IN where he received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering. He continued his education at Rice University in Houston where he received his M.S. degree in electrical engineering as he began his career with IBM.
Fred was raised in a Christian home and grew up in the Northeast Church of Christ in Indianapolis, IN. Upon his arrival to Austin, Fred became a member of the University Avenue Church of Christ, where he attended for 30 years. It was there that he met his wife Sondra. They have one son, Zachary. In 2002 they moved to Round Rock, Texas and became members of the Westside Church of Christ where Fred serves as a deacon with the youth. Sondra currently teaches music at Brentwood Christian School and Zachary is enrolled in a master’s program in history at the University of Chicago.
